I flew out to Pisa from stanstead uk in december weekend before xmas sunday
evening with a chap from Gerald Cullifords the stone importers. We were
picked up at the airport, driven to a restaurant (11pm by this time) given a
seven course meal and then bed 2am in nice hotel. Next morning we were
picked up first thing and driven up to look for block at the depot. We had
chosen a block before lunch and I was able to mark it up myself for cutting
etc.We were back in the uk late monday night. The block is due in at
Cullifords at the end of this month. I have paid for nothing yet( air fares,
meals, hotel etc) but will pay for the block when collected for their
yard. The trip was completely arranged by them and the service and
hospitality of the people I met was lovely. I was buying a 5 ton cut block
but although that's a big deal for me it's nothing to them.
