Thassos marble
Rod,
I have 2 sections of molding from an altar , that are Thassos. I only
sampled the ends, and can say that it is very hard, fine grained, and pure
white. The carving on the samples is approximately 75 years old. The carver
executed exquisitely delicate details, that only an excellent marble would
take.
