standing block stability
Does anyone know about the stability of standing blocks with high
aspect ratios? For example, is a tall-standing block 2' x 2' x
8' (which has an aspect ratio of 4) stable? In a hard meadow? It
seems unstable to look at, but the ground pressure is roughly (180
lb x 8)/144 = 10 psi. That is well below the ~ 30 psi of a typical
car, so the ground shouldn't shift. Should such a block sit on a
special base anyway?
