Building on clay
In over thirty years, I have never built in anticipation of future law
suits. I do believe, however, it is the duty of the stone professional to
educate the uninformed client in such a manner that realistic results are
achieved to every ones satisfaction. I have turned aside work that I knew
to be inappropriate for either the material or location, and I have refused
to commit structural faux pas on an architects whim. (yes it does happen).
It is my job to not only put the stone together in an esthetically pleasing
manner, but to know and understand the why of it. Unfortunately, much of
that understanding has been lost to a market of veneer window dressing.
Aside from all that, the movement I refer to is rather like the expanding
and contracting chest of a sleeping man, and if the client finds that
enough to pick at, they have no soul.
