Top Ten
There is alot more to Mona than her smile. It was, infact, not her
smile that make the picture great but rather that was visually connected
to her smile. If you examine the painting there is a bridge from her
simle to the rest of the background - one of the elements which the
academics point out as an unusal device to connect that smile with the
eternal. I'm sure I could wax more poetic on the topic if I were
looking at a reproduction of the image than I can now, late on a
saturday night after few libations to blur the mind, but still that
bridge to whatever is an interesting thing to ponder when associated
with an enigmatic smile. Great art for sure even if not so impressive
when viewed in person.
