meeting sculptors
Hi Norman
I've just completed a large scale sandstone carving in the Highlands
of Scotland- it took 4 years to complete and throughout that time
I received around 8500 visitors. The interest shown by people
was very encouraging but at the same time it held up the work
considerably- resulting in one quite often frustrated sculptor!
A small proportion of visitors made an effort to contact me prior
to visiting (instead of the usual random 'drop ins')- this was greatly
appreciated by myself as I could then get into what I felt was the
'right frame of mind'- I would know that concentration would be
broken at that point of visit, so I could adjust my working accordingly.
I would guess that most sculptors enjoy their work being viewed/ discussed
as long as it doesn't interrupt the process unduly? In an effort to educate/
inform
I like to feel that anyone with a valid interest is welcome to come and view
work 'in progress'-
By prior arrangement of course!
Barry
