meeting sculptors
Norman,
Don't worry some people are not polite.
I have been trying to bring my craft to the public by carving in pubic
on public commissions. I don't know where you live, but my next on site
carving is in Fairfax, Virginia and will start Sept. 1. I leave in a few
weeks to hunt for a 26 ton block in the quarries above Carrara. During
the on site carving I welcome people to watch, ask questions or read
some of the material I bring to show the different aspects of the trade
and history of the quarries. It seems that the more people understand
the more they appriciate the work that goes into a piece of sculpture. I
usually make a few small sales on the side during my on site carvings.
People often drop in on me here at home. I usually enjoy the break and
the conversation.
