looking for a bright green stone

". . . in the liquor store I saw this really cool looking bottle of gin.
It is bright green bottle.
Does anybody know of and where to get a bright green stone?"
Hi Robin,
I have a small scrap of a bright 'Kelly green' stone that has white and
pale gray gray veining, scattered with little pinpoint flecks of
yellow-ochre. It is not a calcium carbonate marble, and it is as hard as
some of the harder dark green serpentines I have worked.
I got it in a scrap-pile full of granite and white Carrara marble
countertop remnants in Finland last spring. There is a small shopping
mall in downtown Helsinki completely faced with this green stuff.
I have looked through all the commercial stone & marble sites I could
find on the web (Findstone.com and others of that ilk), but none of the
hundreds of stones I viewed comes close to the color of this stone, and
the 300-and-some-odd color plates in a half-dozen Italian, French, and
Marble Institute of America specifier-books also do not show this stone.
I am sending you an attachment image and a carbon copy of this message to
the list (where the software will strip the picture attachment off, I
know . . . sorry!), but maybe someone knows where to obtain this
serpentine(?). The color on your computer monitor may not match the
color on mine, but -- except for the yellow-ochre flecks -- there is no
yellowish cast to the green and no bluish cast -- it is one of the most
purely balanced greens I have ever seen in stone. I'll be happy to send
the picture as an attachment to anyone who requests it off-list.
