Respirators and dangerous rocks.......
B BOLDING as far as I now soapstone, sandstone, serpentine, granite are the
ones you have to be careful with. ? about darker colored marbles. The
problem is a good respirator, but also you have to wear outer cloths like
overalls and take them off when you leave the work area also you need a
separate ventilation system then the rest of the building. I mean heating
and cooling separate.
As far as a respirator I use this system half from the 3M air mate and half
from safety products. I uses a full face hard mask with force air filter on
my waste I find this is good for long hours. It is a very expensive set up,
but after working many years without protection I had no choice. If you are
interested I could sent you the web page info on both. It is in my shop and
I am 2 flights up now.
Be very careful if you work in your basement with what stones you use.
I am no expert on this check with someone who know the type of stone you
plan on using. Also there are place you could test the stone you are working
on. I did it years ago with a batch of limestone. I do not remember the
place it was in the 1980's sorry.
Hope this helps
