Freeing up an air hammer
Quoted text begins.Simon mentions chucking the thing in
a bucket of kerosene - I just want to check (Simon!?)
that this refers to the stuff that's used as a fuel in
lamps and heaters and is known as parrafin in the
UK ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerosene
End of quote.
Did I say 'chuck'? I must have meant 'carefully submerge' ... ;-)
I used a product called 'Caltex Solvent' but I haven't been able to
find out any more about it. It really pongs, although there must be
odourless solvents out there. Kerosene, paraffin and diesel are
suitable solvents too. Paraffin is not used as a descriptive term in
Oz - it's called kerosene or aviation fuel.
I've been using hydraulic oil to replace the air tool oil - just one
drop before use.
