ah, Philip
of course in your gestaltic way, you picked up the sentence that I would
also have commented on... :o)

I was responding to the whole piece (gestalt) of daed's, as wonderfully
illustrative of the process of creation:
"The truth is that it stands here, I may touch it, see it, hear it, taste
it, smell it..."

however, I would add to your comment to continue this new thread, that this
thought that we create into a material HAS a corporeal existence, has its
own life. this is evident by the fact, as daed mentioned, this new reality
will also die. therefore it is alive.

this is the TRANSFORMATIVE process of art - moving the so-called inanimate
material into a living breathing form that has its own life, existence, and
limited process in time. stone of course is in 'long time!'

this accidental transformation, if you will, is our groping for immortality,
grasping for a handle on what is truly and always beyond us. and all those
who reached out for this before us, now stand in front of us, through their
forms, in mute reflection of this human, human desire.

a vital example for our weary world this weekend is the mirror that is the
crucifixion.

always appreciate your comments, Philip
Oscar
