Volterra & alabaster carved clothing
i spent 6 weeks in volterra last october & know exactly where the store
is that walter mentioned - & i had the exact same reaction as walter
did, incredibly well done, & quite different than the other alabaster
shops - from a short distance, one thought the clothing was real, it
was so well sculpted ...
robin, i don't remember the name of the shop, but do remember that it's
the 1st alabaster shop on the left side of the piazza where the buss
terminal is, on viale del ponti, right across the way from the
underground city parking lot. these shops are very commercial (but
this one was an exception), however i don't believe any have web sites
for you to look at, but i could be wrong. i worked in a studio where
the son is computer savvy & therefore they're on the web, but he said
the rest of the town is fairly behind the times when it comes to
computers & the internet.
if you're really determined, you could check out the following link,
and maybe call the alabaster cooperative for info (but you'd have to
speak italian): http://www.volterra-toscana.net/eng/welcome.html
it would be worth your time, if you can find this particular store ...
good luck ... edie
