Chlorite
Hi Ernie,
My name is Robin. I have been on this list for a fee months, anyway funny I
just got my first piece of calcite, Honey colored and will soon start to
carve out a scotch bottle. I have been carving since 1974. The honey cone is
a lot harder than soapstone. When polishing it you have to use either
polishing rocks or sandpaper on a hard block. Do not use it with your
figures. The stone as hard spots and will not come out smooth. This is true
for most marbles and alabasters. I hope that helps. I plan on using a
diamond blade and a pitch tool to cut of most of the meat on this piece.
Being I am carving a bottle. I did chisel of a little to flatten the bottom
after cutting it with a blade. So far I noticed it is very brital.
