Chlorite
Hi Ernie,
Chlorite is wonderful to carve - a really nice stone. It can be carved like
most marbles - although it is like a butter carve, so go slowly at first.
It takes a very nice polish, very easily. I've never used hot wax or the
turpentine/linseed oil mix as a finish on the stone, never found the need.
Because it is not as dense as soapstone I've found that a fine polish is not
as difficult to achieve on the chlorite. You should be able to get a nice
sheen within 600-800 grit.
If you have any questions Randy at Neolithic knows his stones - you can
always ask him.
Happy carving.
