turp and linseed oill, and hot waxing
First, regarding the "turp and linseed oil" combination, JoAnne said that boiled linseed oil and paint thinner, at a ratio of =BD to =BD, works as a sealer for inside pieces. (I used it on chlorite.) It will darken it to the "wet" look. It is a sealer for dark sculptures, to give it a wet look and to enrich it. Never put it on a white piece since it can yellow. It turns chlorite jade-like dark, she said. (It turned my own chlorite basically black.) Let it stay on for 10 minutes; if all drunk up in five minutes add more. If leave on for =BD hour it turns to flypaper; can re- wet it then and immediately wipe it off. Not a good outdoor sealer.
a ratio of =BD to =BD, works as a sealer for inside pieces. Please explain this if you 1 cup turp and 1 cup linseed oil what is the other ingredient and what is it. Do you heat the linseed oil and then add the turpentine to the heated linseed oil. Sounds like it could start a fire.
