'thermalize'
I came across a sculptor this weekend who makes his bases out of
Pennsylvania bluestone. After the quarry cuts them to shape, they
'thermalize" them, which leaves a rough texture and eliminates saw marks.
He explains the process as heating stone with a torch and then adding water.
I tried to find more info from Mr. Google, but couldn't. Anybody know more
about this?
