... wish me luck
Hi all,
I'm just about to take the trip of a lifetime, following the roots of my craft
back to the UK.
The Specialised Skills Institute http://www.issinstitute.org.au/ has arranged an
overseas fellowship sponsored by the Commonwealth Govt Dept of Science,Education
& Training http://www.dest.gov.au/default.htm
As the only Queenslander (and the only stonemason) from 21 Australians awarded a
fellowship in 2005, I'll be getting my hands dirty at Portland, Orton,
Winchester, and West Dean College during an all-too-brief five weeks, scavenging
traditional and contemporary stonemasonry skills to bring back to Oz.
I hope that I will achieve a new perspective, as well as meeting new friends
during my travels. I'll keep you all posted...
Simon
