Sage Grinder Safety Advice....Guard Related....
Quoted text begins.I've never had a grinder buck on me, but I also have very little
experience with them. What kinds of situations cause them to buck or
bind? I'd rather learn ahead of time what to not do, rather than
learn from experience.
End of quote.
Norman,
Whenever I'm making a long deep cut with a diamond blade, bucking and
binding can happen. Keeping the saw in line with the cut when you are doing
it by hand it the problem. Any little twist of the wrist will make the blade
pinch and vibrate. Whenever I feel trouble starting I stop, hang on firmly,
and pull out of the cut to start over. Forcing the blade into the stone ,
rather that letting it cut at its own speed is the cause of a lot of
problems. Overheating of the blade and motor is not good.
Weather the guard in on the grinder or not, you can NEVER let your guard
down.
