Quoted text begins. One of the reasons I favored pneumatic tools was because you could cut back
the air so if they did kick they would just stall ...stall an electric grinder for any amount of time and it's cooked.

Makita's 5" variable speed grinder has a feature labeled SJS (Think it stands for Slip Joint System). There is some sort of clutch at
the gear head/shaft that will slip if one gets the blade bound without burning up the grinder. I've been using it for about a year
and it still is working fine, although I have stalled the thing more than a few times in granite and basalt. Not sure when the old
clutch will start slipping when I don't want it to slip. They usually sell for around $179 US but I found one on line through Tool
Crib of the North (Bought by Amazon.com ) for about $132, no tax or shipping. Even if it gives out in another year I think I'll get
another as it seems to be a good safety investment. Any one know of a 7" or 9" with this type of feature?
