Subject: Purbeck Marble workshops using mediaeval methods

Forwarded to the list for Haysom & Son.

We would like to advertise two new 5-day Purbeck Marble workshops, to be
held at our masonry works in Purbeck, Dorset, UK, between July 31st and
August 12th 2006. There are 8 places available on each course and the
aim is to provide a Purbeck Marble component for Canterbury Cathedral
using mediaeval methods of working (as far as is practical). The cost
will be £300 for 5 days, including tuition, tools, safety equipment (own
steel toe-capped boots required) and a geological expedition and talk
about the history of the use of Purbeck Marble. The course leader will
be Treleven Haysom, stonemason, who has worked and researched Purbeck
Marble for many years. The course is supported by the Heritage Lottery
Fund and there may be bursaries available on application.

Please apply by e-mail or letter to
W J Haysom & Son, Kingston Road,
Langton Matravers, Swanage, Dorset BH19 3JP, UK.
