Subject:
Handling condensation in dust masks
Archie asked
Quoted text begins."... a dust mask but what kind?"
End of quote.
to which Don Dougan replied:
Quoted text begins."... Cartridge-type respirators have replaceable activated-charcoal
cartridge-filters for the fine (toxic) particulates plus the
prefilters for the larger particles. ... Between working sessions
the whole mask can be stored in a air-tight zip-top plastic bag to
lengthen the life of the cartridges."
End of quote.
Beyond discovering from Don's e-mail that (because my mask doesn't
have a prefilter) I'm going to need to buy a new one after having
just bought a year or two's supply of filters, am I the only one
concerned about putting my funky mask, usually dripping with
condensation from my breath, into a plastic bag? I fear mildew and
mold. But perhaps that doesn't happen? Don, is that an issue?
