Mask storage
Bill,
Norman says he is not an expert but his advice is sage and backed by a
life time of looking at tiny crawly things, I think. I for one would
heed it.
While I am not an expert, I have been using masks most of adult life in
industrial settings, and have learned a few things about Funk.
Don't let it happen. It gets nasty quick.
Standard practice is to sanitize the mask by dunking in a five gallon
bucket of water/ sanitizing mix. You can find this in little packets
that are premeasured for the bucketful, just add water, at any
industrial safety supply, or I suppose hospital supply. At the very
least you should swab the mask inside and out with alcohol towlettes,
and then put it in a plastic bag. Supply house will also have nifty
heavy storage bags with a plastic closure, too.
No sense protecting your lungs against dust only to suck down a
snootfull of creepy slime.
