How to pack stone sculture for shipping
mary
as for ups i would not recomend them. i shipped a soapstone sculpture
through them and packed it in a large plastic cooler and surounded it
with plastic bags full of packing peanuts until no movemant was
possible. i then wrapped the package in clear vinyl packing sheeting,
almost like shrink wrap. i insured the piece and told the clerk what was
in the package. i insured the package and they accepted my money.
well sure enough the piece was broken on arival, the dorsal fin of a
shark. (the unbroken image is on the stone page of my website,
chetcale.com ) so to top it all off they not only broke the sculpture
they denied the claim. so i have lost a sculpture to their inept
handeling of my package, i have waisted my money on shipping the piece
and i have waisted my money on the insurance which apparently had no
real value.
i will never use them again for anything but most especially to ship
sculpture.
