Greetings Carvers, There have been a number of comments about using UPS
successfully to ship art and I have had similar experiences with about
100 paintings. But Chet has raised a different question and one that is
crucial, i.e., will they pay when they break something and you have
insured it. Chet is not the only person to have had a very bad
experience (i.e., refusal to pay an insurance claim) with UPS -- I have
other art business friends who refuse to use them because of similar
experiences. At the same time they are the cheapest way to go and
reasonably efficient. IMO using UPS is definitely Caveat Emptor -- I
wouldn't ship anything via them unless it was covered by my private
insurance too. cheers, g
