stone letter cutting tools
Harvey,
I plan to do letters the actual size of the larger of the Trajan
Inscription; about 5" in height. V cut, per the originals.
I have a pretty good command of letterforms and recently published,
through Bitstream, a font of several weights called "New Lincoln Gothic".
It's a contemporary san-serif based on the forms of the classic Roman
from the Trajan Inscription. If you are at all interested, it can
be viewed at Bitstream.com or Myfonts.com, key in either my name
or New Lincoln Gothic in the search box.
My endeavor is personal, though I intend to do it with enough skill
that I can sell some of the results or exhibit in a gallery.
I've been gathering tools from far and wide (NYC, Italy, England)
and now just need to find a source of marble slabs. I figure I'll
need at least 2cm (about 7/8") thickness.
Thanks for your suggestions,
Thomas Lincoln
