stone letter cutting tools
G'day Tom. I have used both green silicon carbide segments from broken
wheels and diamond pads, the diamond pad is the best. A medium pad seems to
be OK but don't use it too often as you it can remove the carbide very fast.
If you have access to silicon carbide a 280 grit is best for touching up the
edge while a 90 grit if you want to take out a chip.
I don't know where you can get the diamond pads, if not from a tool supplier
try a supplier of butchers or carving knives, that is what I use.
Harvey's suggestion is good if you need to take a large amount off ie.
Removing a chip but the pad or segment best for just touching up the cutting
edge. All the best with your lettercutting,
Gordon Brown. {Inscriptor lapidum.}
