stone letter cutting tools
Yes, practice is good. But practicing what? Practicing only means
repetition. The question is how is one to take the "stiffness" out of
letters shaped to look good in two dimensions (paper or computer
screen) and make them look good when incised? Selecting a livelier
font on the computer can give a more exciting shape (up to the point
where it looks like italics and silly), but the question concerned
changes in the third dimension. In other words, making the letters
more legible and also more pleasing in whatever side- or top-lighting
they are likely to be seen in when installed. Or maybe I'm taking
this too far?
