Sparkplug compressors
The technology has indeed been around for a long while.Let me say a
little about why it was replaced by other approaches.
1- it makes your engine run very roughly. Remove a spark plug wire from
your vehicle to see what I mean.
2- That's not clean air going into whatever you're using it for, it's
fuel air mix. The fact that it's explosive is what makes your car/truck
run. OSHA (or it's kin) will have a screaming walleyed fit if they find
you using it today. You'll be thrown in the same cell with the knuckle
draggers who think it's OK to fill tires with propane gas.
3- a four cycle engine is not an efficient air compressor. A compressor
has 2 cycles(intake and compression). Your car motor has 4 (intake,
compression, power, exhaust) so this device is only using 1/2 of the
motion the cylinder is going thru.
4- unless you have a large displacement motor running at a good clip the
amount of air(CFM) that a device like this puts out is not able to keep
up with anything but a small size tool.
All in all I'd vote for rigging up or buying a real compressor powered
by an internal combustion engine and hauling that to the jobsite. More
air for less work and the air you get is truely clean air.
