Sparkplug compressors
Kevin,
My compressor has 4 cylinders that use gasoline to run as you would expect.
When running , the other half of the v-8 pistons are pumping air, and no
gasoline is getting into the air that's being delivered. The compressor side
is completely modified for air and the combustion side is controlled by an
accelerator governor . The sparkplug air hose adaptor that screws into a
sparkplug hole would definitely send gasoline vapors along with the
compressed air, seems to me. The spark plug air hose would be great for
short term emergencies, like pumping up a flat tire.
There have a number of times that I've considered taking my compressor out
to a field and blowing it up! When it's running good, life is grand, but
like any machine, it gets "temperamental" and can drive one nuts! Having a
rental is good if for no other reason that when the compressor won't run,
you can take it back to the owner and let them deal with it.
