Help with orange alabaster
What you have is a very fragile and translucent stone. It is best
worked very gently with wood chisels stone ones are too much for it.
The scars will go too deep to polish out. It is also very important to
make sure you keep an oblique angle as you work - striking into the
stone (anything sharper than 45 degrees) will create scars or shatter
the interior.
good luck - this translucent alabasters are a particular favorite of
mine - soft but providing a challenge quite different from any other
stone around.
