Using a large hand point
Quoted text begins.I bought this at a hardware store and it has a fairly hard even temper from
cutting edge to the hammer end. Using my favorite 2lb hammer it delivers a
pretty large shock back up my arm that is much more tiring than a standard
sized carving tool.
End of quote.
Ad Sach,
I think your point is way too big for your hammer. A big point like yours
need 3 or 4 pound hammers to drive it in the marble. I'd keep using your 2
pounder and get a smaller point. Check out the regular stone carving points
form the Complete Sculptor. A 3\8 to 1\2 point is good for roughing out.
Your point looks like a masonry point and does not have the drawn out point
needed for marble carving. It's a little to stout.
