I'd say the limiting factors are the strength of the trailer hitch and
the traction of the tires and the friction of the stone.

Towing in a controled way has to do with wheelbase, track, and speed.
For uncontrolled dragging of a rock, my formula would be:
vehicle (weight x traction)=stone (weight x friction)
assuming tire traction of 0.6-0.7G and gravel road friction of 0.2G,
a rough estimate is 3-3.5 times the weight of your truck.

Stone friction can be reduced using ice, steel, oiled wood rails, etc.

So the real limitation is how you hitch up up the cable to your truck.

My Porsche might pull 9000 lbs, but you would have to build a special
web of ropes and cables to find enough strong points to hitch the cable.
