Subject: where is everyone

Hi Norman and everyone,
It has been a little quiet and boring around here for sure. I personally
like the opinions and stories myself, as Kent said, but apparently everybody
doesn't. It certainly isn't as fun as it used to be... but back to stone.

I've recently gotten a job to take part in enhancing an outdoor stage that
was put in place to commemmerate the location of Saskatoon's first school,
the Little Stone School. It was made from local field stone, and was taken
apart stone by stone, they were numbered and then it was all rebuilt on our
University Campus. The back of the stage has a small concrete wall which
will be faced with similar fieldstone as the school, and the front of the
stage has 3 - 16" x 23" panels left empty which I will be carving black
slate wall panels for, that will help tell the story of the Little Stone
School. We're still finalizing the design. Saskatoon was named Canada's
Cultural Capital for 2006 so it's nice to see an influx of money for
projects like this.

We've talked in the past about ways of cutting slate. I've recently
purchased a 4 1/2" PowerFist diamond circular saw with water attachment to
cut the slate for this project. Haven't tried it yet but the guy I got the
slate from has one and says it's very slick.

That's about it for now!
