Get out Jen!
No, really. Just pick yourself up and get out of that shop! Make a
date with yourself to go on a fieldtrip. For me the best trip is to
a symposium or another craftsman's shop. I get to see new work, new
techniques, new tools and ways to store them, etc. I always come
back with my batteries recharged. 2nd best is to travel to a museum
or gallery to see work in a different direction than mine or even a
different medium, there's alot of textures/surface treatments out
there waiting . 3rd is I keep a notebook and just put pics, sketches
or thoughts about tools, material, surface treatments and other
things into it. I try to keep it close at hand for those late night
moments of "Intuition and clarity" (usually hitting between 1 and 4
AM). When I'm stuck I just flip thru the notebook and there's always
something I can get fired up about. Notebooks are great when the
snow's about hip deep and the plow truck hasn't come thru yet.
Hope at least some of my rambling has helped.
Bob
