Automotive Style Air Hammers
Very nice work! Your determination and improvisation are more important then
the tools you use. What ever works for you is fine!
Consider the tooled texture your auto hammer gave you as just one of many
looks that are possible when doing stone work. If I was doing a hand pointed
style of finish on your project I wouldn't have gone very deep. Just enough
to satisfy the need for contrast. As you say, pounding out a deep
background, by hand , on granite is very , very slow!
All of the tool marks and different grades of finishes you can apply to
stone are there for you to use. In other words,,, what Clive said!
