Subject:
techniques for detailing Yule marble
hi. my name is samuel sutherland. i hgave been sculpting stone for more
than half my life. recently, due to a change in my ability to aquire exotic
stones, i have had to limit myself to Georgia Cherokee and Colorado Yule
marbles. i have found that the Cherokee is the best stone to use if my
finished plan includes extreem detail, such as an open mouth with individual
teeth and a tongue sticking out (just an examople). in the same instance
with the Yule marble, the vibration of the large cutting tools (early on)
,any pergussion, such as hammer and chissel, and even the fordom or dremel
tools at the end, causes any protrusions, even a nose, causes the marble to
fragment and fall apart, like sand stone.
my question: are there any tricks? besides only using Cherokee for said
projects?
sincerely,
samuel sutherland
