(tennis elbow)
4 things you can do before resorting to drugs or surgery when the
problem is overuse.
1. wrap your elbow with an ace bandage before you begin working a
little support goes a long way to giving you some extra time with the
hammer.
2. do some warm up exercises and stretches before you begin
3. ice it down afterwards
4. use alternate hot and cold packs (ending with cold) for treatments
when it is stiff or sore beyond an hour or two
over use is over use and we do that as habit (or many of us do)
Be aware that cortizone shots will temporarily take the pain for some
but also destroys what remains of the joint more quickly than you would
without them. This is also true of most of the surgeries they offer
short of actual replacement and I don't know if they are replacing
elbows at this time.
These same things fit for sore shoulders, hips, knees, or any other sore
joint - seems a lifetime of carving and other heavy work makes this a
common problem with no good answer until stem cell repair is perfected.
l'shana tova (happy new year) to all - an I hope the short list above
will lessen the pain
