My passion is to create art that reflects the type of environment I enjoy living in: uncomplicated, with minimalist influences and an essential harmony. This has led to a desire to work with partners such as architects and garden designers, to create complimentary sculptures for aesthetically pleasing living and working spaces.

http://www.livingstones-uk.com/index.php/Workshops/Workshops.html
The workshop was established as a series of stone carving courses run from The National Stone Centre on the edge of Wirksworth in Derbyshire. My aim is to introduce as many people as possible, from all kinds of trades and backgrounds - young and not so young - to the joy of stone carving. Stone as a medium of expression is often considered too difficult to master without years of training. It is seldom seen as an option alongside other three dimensional artforms for the non-sculptor. Pottery may be embraced as a possibility while stone is considered to be beyond most people's capability. Living Stones Sculpture Workshop would like to alter that point of view. It can be fun too!

Telling the Story of Stone - history, science, technology, art, environment - in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales on the edge of the Peak District. A dramatic site steeped in industrial history, ecology and geology displaying 330 million year old fossil tropical reefs. The first stage of a novel sculpture park, covering perhaps 30 km2, has begun with three stone towers on site. A new trail guide and new interpretation panels will be available from August/September 2006. The centre continues to run it's ever popular dry stone walling courses and has introduced an advanced course - Stone in the Garden.
