The American College of the Building Arts offers a four year bachelors degree in the historical building arts. Architectural Stone & Carving, Carpentry, Architectural Metal, Masonry, Plaster Working and Timber Framing. The Architectural Stone curriculum is broadly based with a concentration on three areas of the trade: stone carving, installation techniques, and the conservation of historic fabric. The eight-semesters of hands-on training prepares you for a career as a stone artisan in both a restoration/preservation context and in new construction. Traditional Granite Sculptor AC Button produces monumental, memorial, public and private commission work in various styles, up to portrait quality. At Carolina Sculpture Studio, he extends a continuous family heritage of custom stone craftsmanship, established in 1891, in the USA Granite Industry. Well received as a figurative stone carver by major companies and organizations, he has found expression for his vision and his patrons' desires in stone, wood and plastic media. Shell Rock Pitch, a nearly lost technique of producing a stone with a completely virgin surface of deep scallops devoid of tool marks, is an offered trade specialty passed on to him by family.
