Philippe Faraut is a figurative artist specializing in life-size portraits and monumental stone sculptures. His media of choice are water-based clay and marble. From his extensive research of the human face he developed a technique of modeling the portrait that teaches during his sculpting classes and seminars taught throughout the US. During his stone carving workshops offered at his NY studio, students can experiment with both figurative and abstract stone carving in marble, alabaster, limestone or travertine. Philippe has created a set of sculpting supplies, an instructional sculpting video series and a book detailing his process for portraiture in clay. Artists in fields such as illustration, sculpture, forensic reconstruction, art education and film and theater utilize his three-dimensional masks as reference for the aging process and in-depth studies of expression. As an award-winning stone sculptor specializing in representational art, Philippe feels that the renewed interest and willingness of artists to return to the study of the human form has the potential to bring back to our society an appreciation for traditional beauty.

Alistair Ferguson: Stone Sculptor. I have always had an interest in art. At school I considered pursuing it as a possible career subject, but in common with many I was directed to follow the then standard practice in Glasgow of getting an apprenticeship and went from school to work in mechanical engineering, then eventually into telecommunications. I recently learned about the Glasgow Sculpture Studios, and there I have attended classes run by the renowned Glasgow Sculptor Tom Allan. From this I have found that I can use both my natural and learned abilities to produce interesting pieces of stone sculpture. Please look through the pages of my web site at the examples of some of the pieces that I have produced, and if you are interested in any of the work please contact me.

I carve realistic figurative marble sculptures using a direct intuitive aproach. My work ranges from small table top pieces to monumental sculptures for public places. I work without models or preconcieved ideas. For 20 years I lived and worked in Pietrasanta, Italy, learning the stone trade and developing as an artist. Presently I have moved back to California, but still make regular trips back to Italy to purchase stone and rough out new work.

John Fitzgerald is a stone sculptor who resides in Chester County, PA. He apprenticed with J. Dugan for over 20 years working with Onyx and Marbles from around the world. He tries to accentuate his work by incorporating the coloring of the matrix present in the stone that has taken thousands of years to formulate to these beautiful colors and designs. He tries to keep his designs simple but at the same time interesting from whatever angle you look at his work. Each piece has no less than one year from design phase to its completion. I hope that the combination of my designs and the earth's true beauty will bring inspiration to you.
