For me it's the ultimate challenge to create original and unique artwork out of a block of stone. It's some kind of magic how every piece of rock contains its own "biggest possible" sculpture inside, you 'just' have to remove the rest of the stone which you don't need for your sculpture! I make abstract and figurative sculptures out of Belgian and Irish blue stone, French limestone, marble, black hard stone like 'Noir de Mazy' and basalt. I start sculpting directly without any models or drawings, I uses only the 'taille-directe' method. I have made some female nudes, flowers, garden statues, a celtic inspired relief, trible heads, abstracts, fantasy creatures like a dragon. For the moment I'm sculpting a gargoyle.
