Celebrating the sculpture of Richard Jaworowski. Whether it is the sensuous expression of the human form, or the curve of an abstract piece, Richard's work resonates with an inherent sensual power. Richard has been a sculptor for over 30 years, and he carves primarily in Vermont marble. Richard's sculptures are included in many public and private collections throughout the United States, including the Museum of Art and Science in Daytona Beach, Florida; KPMG Peat Marwick in Hartford and Stamford, Connecticut; Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts; and the University of Connecticut Medical Center.

This site is about letter cutting and low relief sculpture. I make plaques, house names and headstones. I also make individual pieces of stonework for homes and gardens. These include birdbaths, sundial stands and benches. I treat each commission as an individual work of art. I recently won an award from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. I began stonecarving with the Portland Sculpture and Quarry Trust and went on to train at City of Bath College.

Dale Johnson began carving stone while an undergraduate as an apprentice to the Kenyan sculptor John Odoch-Ameny. Since that time (1987) he has had the opportunity to work with artists and craftsmen from around the world. He formed his own stone carving/sculpture business in Columbus, Ohio, in 1991. His commissions have run the gamut from the very classical and traditional to the outrageous. Specializing in an imaginative interpretation of the client's vision filtered through his own well-versed sensibility, Mr. Johnson offers a unique and fun opportunity for the client who wants to work in conjunction with a skilled craftsman.

Specializing in figurative marble sculpture, contemporary public art, portrait sculpture, monuments and memorials. The studio offers sculpture restoration for all stone sculptures and objects of art. Sculptures range from classical subjects to modern abstract works in Carrara and Yule marble. I am starting a new series of marble relief sculptures based upon my inspiration from studying Gislebertus a middle ages stone carver from Autun. Sculpture that shows movement and has the quality of a snapshot photograph is very interesting to me. Many of my works are based upon ancient Roman and Greek mythic heroes and ancient goddesses. There is an Apollonian dualism in my sculpture of Apollo's twin sister Diana, the piece entitled Diana Colossus, that I only discovered after completion. Some see the sculpture as male but others female.

Each material has an inate essence, my work is to bring that out, creating contemporary adaptations of classical themes. From an update of northwest Totems to abstract forms to my individual interpretation of human form, I use my love of traditional and native heritage to see the beauty and meaning in everyday life. The work is a wide range of three-dimensional media including a variety of stone (marble, alabaster, limestone, soapstone, steatite, chlorite), wood (walnut, eucalyptus, pine), metal, clay, concrete and resin, occasionally combining them. One of the main things that appeals to me about sculpture is that it is tactile. I love to touch and caress the stone and wood, especially when it is highly polished, and I encourage others to touch my work. It adds an entire level of appreciation and understanding I don’t find elsewhere in art.
