William Kolok is a sculptor. He works in a wide variety of materials including stone, wood, metal, and clay. His artwork in stone includes alabaster, soapstone, limestone, marble and granite. For his large sculptures he prefers limestone. He enjoys alabaster and soapstone for its color and ease of carving. When creating sculpture in wood he uses walnut, cherry and oak. His wood sculptures are often constructed out of a variety of woods and other materials. A recent religious art commission included 14 carved and constructed wood crosses. He also created a large limestone font and tabernacle for a health park. As an artist he is interested in a personal esthetic, and conducts stone carving workshops. He is currently working on a series of wood pieces that are created on the wood lathe and use walnut, cherry and oak wood and metal found objects. These playful pieces are created to off set the more labored work of stone carving.

I am a stone carver and letter cutter trained in England. I use traditional tools, specializing in fine incised and raised lettering, as well as high and bas-relief carving. I use a variety of stones including slate, limestone, sandstone and marble. My work encompasses classical carving and projects in which the natural shape and texture of the stone are incorporated into the design. I create memorial headstones, benches and plaques in close collaboration with clients for whom individual designs are drawn up. Other commissions include sundials, ornamental inscriptions and outdoor stone artwork. My work is in many public places including Marist College and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, a visitors' center in Egypt, and pedestrian walkways in Falkirk, Scotland.
