Ian has worked as an artist in many media since the 1970s, and now works as a letter-cutter in stone, using Mintaro slate from South Australia and sandstone from Sydney and elsewhere in Australia, drawing texts and images by hand and cutting using French chisels and a lettercutting dummy. Ian believes in the nourishing of art by scholarship. He is particularly interested in placing text in stone in public and private gardens and in bushland settings. He likes letter-cut works to function both as garden furniture and art objects. Recent commissions have included large outdoor dining tables with a perimeter text, a commemorative garden disc, tree plaques and architectural work.

Sculptor and Stonemason. I use art to communicate and express myself on subjects that interest me. The energy to convey my concepts through stone sculpture is nurtured partly by the process itself. The primal and lasting quality of stone, along with the emotional involvement of producing with it give me the incentive to work with this medium. For me, artistic inspiration flows from interactions with people and our natural environment. My sculptures are mirrored moments from such encounters, impressions from the inevitable run-ins with life. The basis for my conceptual work is that of intuition and contemplation that ultimately finds its way into a tangible form. This process consists of studies involving drawing and clay work. It is with these methods that I develop the aesthetic qualities that can engage the viewer to consider the sculpture's concealed potential or simply appreciate the work's physical beauty.

Kirk McCoy has reffered to his work as "Carving paintings out of stone". He re-invents stone carving using a colorful natural stone quarried in the American southwest called farrago to create a revolutionary approach to modern art in a classic medium. A self taught artist that breaks all of the rules, Mr. McCoy continues to develop new expressions in the most complex of mediums.

The sculptures of Patrick McGannon explore, with humility and gratitude, the universal forms and complex relationship dynamics that make up our everyday lives. His sculptures possess a sense of the spiritual and the divine as expressed in the perfection of imperfection. The fluid lines of Patrick's sculptures evoke intuitive impressions of the similarities and commonalities of all life forms and physical structures, from the emerging seedpod of a flower to emerging galaxies in the universe. His sculptures are reflective of the struggles of life itself, where, despite great uncertainty, one is compelled to go forward and to live. For this reason, many viewers believe his sculptures have "presence" and an existence beyond a mere object.
