I was born in Prague. I studied medicine and worked as an anatomist. In 1985 I moved to Britain. My work is figurative, narrative and expressive. My sculptural work is in stone and clay. I carve sculptures from Bath and Portland stone. I love watching people, their body language and facial expressions and I am on lookout for a special moments and situations accompanying every human activity. I use my sketchbooks, as valuable collection of raw material. I draw on personal experiences, past and present, with a view to reflect the spontaneity of ordinary human life.

Peltola lives in westcoast of Finland (Uusikaupunki). Sculpture materials: stone, bronze, wood. Specialize in stone carving especially in red granite from Western Finland (Taivassalo, Vehmaa). In abstract area my aspirations are to seek compact and dynamic forms which I can use also to more realistic figures. I respect the hard and ancient materials as stone is, and I am trying to use all it's qualities in my art.

Nature sculptures made from stone, sticks, rocks and other materials. Healing, embracing, accepting uncertainty and impermanence, and seeking balance are important themes in my art and in my life. Understanding and healing the environment is another powerful inspiration for my work. I am grateful that people viewing my work often comment that they’ve learned something or seen something in a new way. One man first noticed a tree in his neighborhood had been cut down because he saw my artwork on the remaining stump; the stump had been there at least ten years. All of my art is impermanent, and an intention of many pieces is to reflect impermanence or fragility. Photographs help my most transient works stay vivid in my mind's eye, and are a means to share my work.

Hello, to describe me in about lines, I would say that it is the material which fascinates me in the first one, then comes the shape. My Web site illustrates well the variety of the materials which I use in my work. Every structure gives me the occasion to try to make it express itself in its specificity. It is this research which gives me most enjoyment in the work. My studio is in the South of France, in Provence. And I have to say that the light here, counts a lot because it is it which will seize the shape and will give it life. Good visit and don't hesitate to write me.
