Stone sculpture carved in the Brecon Beacons of Wales, using highly polished local stone reflecting the strength and depth of the area. Panico aims to to develop a new vernacular in his sculpture, something to stand alongside the existing tradition of stone sculpture. Then, he believes he will follow in the traditions of true artist-factors by according a contemporary feel to a long-established material

I have no formal education in art beyond highschool, and until I began carving soft stone, I didn't believe I had any talent either. In the 20 years since I first picked up the tools however I have sold in some of the best known galleries across Canada, and am still going strong. Sometimes it is an advantage not to know the "rules" or be aware what the limitations are. I've been exploring the medium, and learning as I go. People seem to like what I produce, which is very flattering, but more importantly, I am still enjoying it immensely. I'm on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence River, at the eastern end of the Thousand Island tourist district, and am active on the local studio tours, so when you are in the area, please, stop by and see me.
