I carve stone pieces as though they were fragments and sections of classical statuary after the ruined stone and marble masterpieces from the ancient civilisations of Rome, Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia. The Three Graces: The daughters of Zeus, Aglaia, Euphrosyne and Thalia personify beauty, charm and grace, also favour and gratitude. Here they execute a voluptuous dance. Their nude figures, in an interlaced group, have been popular with painters and sculptors from Hellenistic times. This hand-carved example is copied from a Greek original of 2nd century BC. Akhenaten: A hand-carved sandstone portrait of the great Egyptian king with very finely-tooled finish. As though an archaeological fragment - the front section of a bust, or the remnant of a full sized statue. Intended to stand against a wall, the rear side being flat.
