The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center is an educational facility dedicated to the creation and presentation of three-dimensional art, situated in an environment transformed by the historic marble industry. Since 1987 our organization has grown from two three-week stone carving sessions in the summer to year round course offerings and exhibitions in most sculptural media. Our Artist in Residence program complements instructional workshops and fosters cultural exchange; we currently have ongoing relationships with indigenous arts organizations in Kenya and Peru.

Carvings of birds, fish, and other wildlife in slate. Detailed representational renderings are carved with a mallet and chisel. In slate the animals exhibit the ancient quality of fossils while they also come alive with alert expressions of watchful presence. Works can be hung, incorporated into kitchens, baths or any other tile application, or simple propped up wherever they are best appreciated. I also work by commission.

Realism, abstraction, and a full range of expression in between, make Mike's pieces as varied as the stone he has worked. Marble, alabaster, limestone and soapstone have all yielded to his eclectic range of expression. The experiences of being a graduate of Ontario College of Art and a retired Professional Engineer come together to produce free flowing planes at one end of his scale of expression to rigid geometric form at the other. Since 2003 the Danang Sculpture Center has been a meeting point for international sculptors and Vietnamese stone carvers. With a team of carvers knowledgeable about modern techniques of sculpture carving, a well - equipped workshop for carving, the Center has been commissioned work through international and Vietnamese sculptors for government institutions, private enterprises and individuals both in Vietnam and abroad. The Center also offers an ideal place for professional scuptors to work (well-equipped workshop and studio, skilled carvers to assist sculptors, located nearby wood carving, silicon moulding ateliers and bronze foundries) . The Danang Sculpture Center is working on a non-profit basis, all its profits is used for cultural and social purposes. These include among others the objective of training poor and disadvantaged youth in the art of carving and sculpturing and organizing cultural exchanges between Vietnamese and international sculptors.

DAVID BOOKER was born in Australia. He was educated in Sydney and Hobart, Tasmania. His first solo exhibition was in 1983, Main Hall, Central Railway Station, Sydney. Since then he has continued to show his sculptures in solo exhibitions, focusing on the integration of his figurative themes in architectural and urban settings, creating suggestive installation in historical places and prestigious buildings. His artworks could be integrated as figurative sculptural themes with contemporary architecture, in particular internal entrance areas, courtyards, portico areas and representative covered spaces. At the moment his sculptures are on exhibition at Bosco didattico Ponte Felcino, Perugia, Italy. David Booker does commissioned site specific sculptures for collectors, and public art projects that are installed in Europe and Australia. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Making dust is my personal creation story. My sculpture is a modern-era tale of enlightenment. It may simply be my own illumination that is achieved - I can live with that. If my visual description is persuasive, the viewer will see a glimmer of light radiating from these forms and then look inside themselves for their meaning.
